I found this...I think I'm going to finish it someday.

There once was a good young man who lived deep in the woods. His hair was fiery red and quite messy, his smile was contagious, and his manner was kind. His eyes shown with a pure light that years of joy and humble live give. This Young Man loved to make music with many instruments. He would harmonize with the cool breeze and the voice of the Girl That He Loved.
On the edge of the forest there was a large town, full of people, good and bad. In the darker part of the town, there lived another young man. This young man was tall, dark, and bewitching in his ways. The light in his eyes had grown dim, and when he sang , people’s faces grew grim.

Have a good week!

Shedding our summer skin

I know I should be posting pictures from Texas and such, but I had to write about yesterday/ today. It was the first annual "Vattaroo" (apposed to Bonnaroo) and it was so fun. We had a bonfire last night and roasted marshmallows and played signs. When it was time for bed, we all laid on my back porch where we could see the stars. Jamie (one of my dearest friends) and I were saying how PERFECT it would be if we saw a shooting star, just then one SHOT across the sky. It was so amazing. In the morning we tie-dyed t-shirts and such (even a little baby t-shirt for my niece/nephew-to-be!!!) and that was soooo fun. We listened to great music all day as well on Micah's amp-he was SO nice and loaned it to me. Before everyone left completely, the people who were left (which happened to be all of my closest friends...'cept Micah, but he's a boy and doesn't count in this sense) wrote down special notes to ourselves. It was sentimental and stuff, but gosh, was it special. I love all of those girls, they're like my sisters. We stayed up late and played a bunch of silly games, but it was preacious, precious time spent with people I love so much.

As I was cleaning up after everyone left, the cicadas were chirping and fireflies were out. Wonderful memories from my summer flashed into my head. More than anything, I wanted, and still want, to cry. I loved this summer-it was sad and weird, but it was so PERFECT. Nothing-NOTHING, would I change about it, even the bad parts.

I'm now in the process of "shedding my summer skin" as the song says. But as I enter the school year, I know that I can hold nothing back ...and I'm ready.

I'm still in texas!

Well, I am officially ready to go home. I do like it here and such...but Texas is really apart of my past...you know? I lived here 'til I was SEVEN for heaven sakes! I went to West Side Story at a local theatre and saw one of my many "older brothers" (he isn't really...he's my older brother's friend...but he feels like my older brother) star as Tony. He did a fantastic job. The set was really well done as well. West Side Story is so sad! I love it, but the ANGER and HATE that the gangs have for eachother is just...saddening. What's also VERY sad is that, though the play is dramatasized and a little bit romantisized as well, that was and IS a reality for many young people. They're apart of a gang. They belong for a while. They get shot.

It's horrific.

On a lighter note, I went to Town Square with my mom and little sister today. We all met one of my mom's old friends for lunch. Then, I was free to roam about the shopping center. I was looking for Delia's (love that place) and I stumbled upon a store called Anthrapologie. So maybe I'm just slow and don't get out enough...but I hadn't ever heard of it. When I walked in it seemed like the angels in the heavens were singing. I LOVE THAT STORE. I would've bought one of every single thing except...I have no money. I literally have $5 left...oh dear. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do. Luckily...the trip is almost over. In addition to that, everything was SUPER expensive. I was drooling over this little vintagy dress...then I looked at the price tag...$129.95! Are you kidding me? I mean, I'm a frugal girl and all, but when I see something I REALLY love, I'll pay for it. But that's a little rediculous. Oh well, I still am having a love affair with that store.

I miss everyone in Chatters. I can't wait to go home!

OH...I felt like a major fashionista walking around Town Square today. =) Multiple times people turned around and I could hear them say "I love her dress!" Haha The girl in Delia's even asked me where I bought it. I was more than happy to tell her...My local thrift store. Just goes to show, you can be stylish and frugal at the same time.

I'm going bowling tonight with an old friend Taylor and HER friends...for the first time in my life, I'm feeling insecure. Whatever. I hope I have a good time.

I'll see you in 6 days!

Ahhh I'm here!

I'm in Texas! Yay! After driving through rain on an interstate (a first for me) we made it! I haven't had access to internet, sorry about not posting. We (my little sis, mom and I) stopped in Nashville before the LONGGGG treck to Mt. Pleasant (where my grandparents live...isn't that a nice-sounding place to live?) I went to the most precious little tearoom...that's CLOSING (SO SAD) and bought a couple of adorable vintage hats...that I'm quite excited about. We then drove to my grandparents. I love my grandparents very much, but I was awfully glad to arrive in Keller, TX, today. My old friend, Taylor, lives here. It's funny, we were BEST buds in second grade, for six months., and we've kept in touch ALL of these years! Anyway, tonight, the Peterings (old family friends) threw a "blonde party" for my mom and it was sweet. I'm SO tired though.

What I really wanted to write about was what happened BEFORE the trip. I grew up. Weird huh? I mean, I'm still ME. But I gave up that night. I stopped fighting the fact that I HAVE to face responsibility. It's really sad. and SO scary. (I have never felt as terrified as I did the moment I realized what I was facing) But I needed to let go of the self-centered approach on life I had. I was trying to have as much fun as I could...regardless of what that meant to anyone else. Now the summer's ending. I could have kept being a selfish little kid, or I could face my problems head on and triumph over them in the years to come. It happened, whether I wanted it to or not. I'm glad it did. Don't worry, I don't act like I'm twenty-nine...I'm still crazy, quirky, dumb, and not very funny (but I still think I am)., but I know that when it comes down to it, I have to face growing up and just do it. Instead of masking the fact that I am getting older by scoffing at responsibilty and going out with my friends.

I'm EXHAUSTED due to lack of sleep (sleeping on my grandparents couch is NOT fun) so I'm off to bed. goodnight! =)

My hair's clean-cut, SCULPTED!

Okay, I'm really addicted to Dear and the Headlights. Serious. I love them! Ah Yesterday was very fun! Cara came over and we goofed off for a couple of hours. Every time Cara comes over, we walk to Micah's. It all started when we were listening to a song by Miniature Tigers where he door-bell ditches a girl he likes. Cara got this wild hair to do that to Micah (but she doesn't like him...) ANYWHO, we walked all the way to his house and she says "Okay Emily, do it!"...I just looked at her like she was crazy. As we stood on the front porch arguing about it, Mrs. Schreiner saw us and invited us in. Haha it was a fun afternoon. So now it's a tradition. =)

That's the end of the picture's from Atheneaum that I'm going to put up here! Hopefully I'll be able to put up the Sara and I pictures and Cara and I pictures sometime.

It's such...such a perfect day.

You know when you have a day (or a couple in sequence) where everything just goes well? I'm experiencing that right now.

I babysat three beautiful children on Thursday. They had a treehouse in their backyard. I mean, a genuine, tree-in-the-middle, square, rickety, treehouse! It made me so happy. Of course, I HAD to be cliche and play "pirates". But OH, was it fun. All four of us were exhausted by the time I had to leave, but it was so worth it!

Yesterday was the homeschool book fair. Which, though crowded, stressful, and quite humorous to watch, it was actually very fun. I got to see some interesting people I don't normally see everyday! Later in the day, while my mom was working registration, I lounged about in the grass behind Camp Jordan. That was so fun! I got some funny looks, but I was in the shade and the breeze was blowing-nothing else mattered.

Later that day, I went to Heritage Park with Sara. It was loads and loads of fun...I'll talk about that more tomorrow I think.

I finally posted some pictures! I hope you enjoy!
