twinkle twinkle little bat.
I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I have been stressed to the max with finals and silly drama.
BUT. Easter was lovely. I am so overwhelmed with God's love for me and the feeling of being Free in Him.
Also, I challenged myself last week to wear a dress for 7 days. I wanted to document with photos...but I didn't get the time. I did it though, and it was so fun. I love wearing dresses in the sunshine.
I whined all yesterday about how hard my life is and how sick I am and how many hours I'm taking next semester (20)...So to combat that whiny-ness, I'm going to make a list of some things that make me happy right now:
1) Falling in love with Feist again. She uses harp in her songs and she's French...what's not to love?
2) Discounted Easter candy. Instead of candy in our eggs this year, my mom put loose change to go buy Easter candy after easter. I got a bag of jelly beans, marshmallow eggs, gummy bunnies, and some Peeps for $3. Crazy right?
3) Making and printing photographs. I printed three 16X20 pictures today and I love them so much. It's so exciting when you love your own work.
4) Being loved. and sharing love.
5) The peonies in my front yard. There is no flower on this earth that smells as beautiful as a peony. Not to mention they are breathtakingly beautiful.
6) Planning how to beat the monotony of everyday life. Bike rides, new coffee shops, reading books, leaving notes in the library for strangers...etc.

you cut me loose
Come on, my star is fading And I swerve out of control If I, if I’d only waited I’d not be stuck here in this hole Come here my star is fading And I swerve out of control And I swear I waited and waited I’ve got to get out of this hole But time is on your side Its on your side now Not pushing you down and all around It’s no cause for concern Come on, oh my star is fading And I see no chance of release And I know I’m dead on the surface But I am screaming underneath And time is on your side Its on your side now Not pushing you down And all around, no It’s no cause for concern Stuck on the end of this ball and chain And I’m on my way back down again Stood on a bridge, tied to the noose Sick to the stomach You can say what you mean But it won’t change a thing I’m sick of the secrets Stood on the edge, tied to a noose You came along and you cut me loose You came along and you cut me loose You came along and you cut me loose. |
I was on the edge, tied to a noose. Then Jesus came along and cut me loose.

the misty moon
I'm in such a strange mood.
The kind of mood where you look at the moon and you fall in love with it.
The kind of mood where your heart aches for people that you don't even know.
The kind of mood where you roll down your windows while you drive and drink in the rushing wind.
The kind of mood where you want to get home in time to kiss all of your loved ones, pack, and then move to Africa.
The kind of mood where the word "adventure" makes your heart quiver.
The kind of mood where you just want to jump off a ledge into icy water.
The kind of mood where you want to tell everyone you meet that they are loved. so loved.
That kind of mood. You know?

We will not be silent.
Move for Uganda (a fundraiser for Invisible Children and some other outreaches to Child Soldiers of the LRA) was so great. The weather was perfect and the crowd was a good one to be in. I loved that it was a local thing organized by college kids!
Concerning Lions played. They were fabulous (as always). If you haven't heard their new stuff, you can listen to it here.
What do you want before you die?

Mahler's 2nd
Rise again, yes, rise again,
Will you My dust,
After a brief rest!
Immortal life! Immortal life
Will He who called you, give you.
To bloom again were you sown!
The Lord of the harvest goes
And gathers in, like sheaves,
Us together, who died.
O believe, my heart, O believe:
Nothing to you is lost!
Yours is, yes yours, is what you desired
Yours, what you have loved
What you have fought for!
O believe,
You were not born for nothing!
Have not for nothing, lived, suffered!
What was created
Must perish,
What perished, rise again!
Cease from trembling!
Prepare yourself to live!
O Pain, You piercer of all things,
From you, I have been wrested!
O Death, You masterer of all things,
Now, are you conquered!
With wings which I have won for myself,
In love’s fierce striving,
I shall soar upwards
To the light which no eye has penetrated!
Its wing that I won is expanded,
and I fly up.
Die shall I in order to live.
Rise again, yes, rise again,
Will you, my heart, in an instant!
That for which you suffered,
To God will it lead you!
After a brief rest!
Immortal life! Immortal life
Will He who called you, give you.
To bloom again were you sown!
The Lord of the harvest goes
And gathers in, like sheaves,
Us together, who died.
O believe, my heart, O believe:
Nothing to you is lost!
Yours is, yes yours, is what you desired
Yours, what you have loved
What you have fought for!
O believe,

-Mahler.
I love that I get to sing stuff like that (in German). With a conductor like Bob Bernhardt.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to cry during tomorrow's performance.

Spring Rejoicing
the colored dust on the ground rejoiced with us. spring has come. the cold death of winter is gone. the hope of all things new has taken its place. rejoice, rejoice, life has returned to earth. it turns the sins of the past into sorrowful recollections, and makes the present full of lovely creatures and greenly growing things.

Do you wanna dance?
Prom.
Jenny and I worked so hard on these dresses. They didn't turn out exactly as planned...but I think they look fabulous.
Jenny also made Jonathan's stellar pants. They're so great. Very nice and shiny.
Oh prom. It is all hype and basically horrible. But I got to go with some great people and that made it a lot better.
I only wish I could've taken more photographs! Oh well, maybe sometime.
Happy Sunday
Mary Emily
