faded things
A tired, faded little flower looked up at the Sun one day. She winced at it's mighty brilliance and power. The forlorn little flower felt weak and helpless while gazing at this shining Thing. This Thing that was harsh and loving at the same time. This Thing that would strike and caress with the same ray. She was awed and comforted as she grew warm in Its light. She was frightened with the thought of Its wrath. She bowed lower and lower, cowering and worshiping with one movement.
As faded plants bow to the Sun, so shall I, a faded being myself, bow to you, O Lord.

THE PILLOW

Let it always be known, that I was who I am.
Oh naïve little me
asking what things you have seen
You're vulnerable in your head
You'll scream and you'll wail till you're dead
Creatures fade by night
Following things that aren't right
and they're tired and they need to be lead
They'll scream and they'll wail till they're dead
But give me to a rambling man
Let it always be known that I was who I am
Beaten, battered, and cold
My children will live just to grow old
But if i sit here and weep
I'll be blown over by the slightest of breeze
And the weak need to be lead
And the tender I'll carry to their bed...
Oh but give me to the Rambling Man
Let it always be known, that I was who I am.
(excerpts from Rambling Man)
I love early mornings. I haven't been up as early as I was today in a long while. I woke up with moonbeams streaming through my window. I watched as the sky and clouds turned from black and grey to a brilliant azure and pink. I walked in the morning breeze and grew warm in the golden sun. Ah yes. This day has been nice.
Have a fabulous rest of Wednesday.

Some Little Things and some words on Banana Pops
flickr won't let me upload anything because I don't have a pro account and I ran out of room...
Laura Marling is a new favorite for sure. This song is so haunting and perfect. The video is so perfectly shot. It makes me long for winter.
Okay so Banana Popsicles are really great. I haven't had one in forever. I used to hate them. But I had one today and enjoyed it immensely.
That's all.

Cast your wreckless dreams upon our Mayflower
Haven from the world and her decay.
This is quite breathtaking. Someone posted it on facebook and reminded me how much I love this song.
In other news, School starts this week. I'm so ready. Also, I went to the Andrew Peterson/Eric Peters/Concerning Lions concert on Saturday night. I was very impressed with Concerning Lions, they were much better live than I expected. I was pleasantly satisfied with Andrew Peterson, he was absolutely fantastic, just like I knew he would be. I'm going to go write letters and work on that blasted Calvin & Hobbes pillow I've been working on for forever. I'm finishing it. End of story.
Have a good day, in spite of the fact it is a Monday.

a post that is complaining about future heartache
I have to admit something. I have a heavy heart. One of my best friends (I don't use the term "best friend" lightly, I'll have you know...) is leaving on Saturday for college. We talked about it today. We both know that it's going to be different. We both know that this a new, exciting chapter in her life. Sheesh. I hate knowing things and still being just as frightened and sad as when you don't know things. I don't know if that sentence made sense. Well anyway, tomorrow I'm saying goodbye to her. Goodbye. I don't know how the words are going to leave my mouth with out my heart breaking just a little bit.
Moral of this post: Cherish your friends. You never know when you'll have to say goodbye...and even when you know it hurts just as much.

Coffee time
After a rant about how no one can see good quality versions of my photos online because facebook is DUMB....Bethany suggested I post my favorites on here. So here. From today.
Other news, I'm cleaning out my "studio" and putting it to work housing pieces of art that haven't been born yet and brainstorms and fun thoughtful alone times. Okay done. Have a good Wednesday!

Summer's almost over!
*gasp*
but not really.
This summer (as I've mentioned numerous times before) has been an incredible summer of revelations...like this one:
Life is so fleeting. The whole romanticized idea of "summer" is so idiotic. The idea of "loving life" and being happy for three months. And you know what's idiotic about that? The three months part. Honestly, think about it. Why can't life be sunshiny and "free" feeling all the time? School, work, and the stress of "everyday" life get in the way. My summer has been almost as busy as my school year. And I've enjoyed every sings minute of it. Moral of the story: Life is so beautiful. You are here for a while. And sure life is HARD. But focus on the things that make you and the other people around you happy. Appreciate little tiny sunny things. Take this advice:
"In ev'ry job that must be done
There is an element of fun
you find the fun and snap!
The job's a game"
Thanks Mary Poppins. You ARE in fact, practically perfect in EVERY way...
Enjoy your life.

Hello long lost friends.
I rarely blog anymore, this is becoming more and more evident.
I also rarely check any other people's blogs anymore.
I miss it. I miss spending thirty minutes of my day reading about people's lives and seeing there fashion sense and getting tips about everything.
Once school starts (in three weeks or something like that. crazy) I'm going to blog at least once a week. I used to try to categorize this blog as a "fashion blog" or an "art blog" or strictly a place to share my photography and "poetry" (ha!). It's going to be all of those things. So don't expect anything to be routine. Just expect one post a week.
Yay.
In recent news,
I've kept up with my 365, only skipping once. (even if some of my days have been extremely mediocre photos)
Many profound truths have been revealed to me in the last week, like this line "My love is for other people, because I cannot possess the love of another person."
I've been blessed with great friends and wonderful times with them this summer.
So yeah, that's what has been going in in my life. I might not even blog until school starts. But I will be back.
